Services available:

Occupational therapy services are provided through the Forest County Potawatomi Health & Wellness Center.

Referral:

A physician’s order for occupational therapy evaluation and treatment is needed for services. Talk with your primary care physician for a referral.

Services Provided:

  • Cognition (memory, attention, sequencing, adaptations)
  • ADL’s (eating, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, etc.)
  • I-ADL’s (homemaking tasks, house management, leisure skills, shopping tasks, etc.)
  • Upper extremity and hand injuries/pain
  • Neurological Disorders
  • Home Safety and Modifications
  • Carpal tunnel
  • Epicondylitis (medial and lateral)

Occupational Therapy Header

Occupational Therapy provides services across the lifespan.

  • Activity and environmental analysis
  • Use of therapeutic modalities
  • Interventions to increase engagement in tasks while reducing the barriers for participation.

Customized treatment programs for all ages may focus on:

  • Motor skills: fine and gross motor
  • Sensory interventions: body awareness, tactile interventions, visual-perceptual skills
  • ADL/IADL (activities of daily living/ instrumental activities of daily living): dressing, grooming, meal preparation, task organization, home safety
  • Cognitive skills: attention, sequencing, problem-solving, executive functioning
  • Adaptive equipment: simple to complex (adaptive utensils, home modifications, etc.)
  • Strengthening: progressive resistive exercises
  • Life and social skills training: focusing on improvement in daily interactions in the natural environment

Services focus on:

  • Habilitation: assisting with achieving developmental skills when impairments have caused a delay or initial acquisition of skills has not been achieved.
  • Rehabilitation: treatment designed to facilitate the process of recovery from injury, illness or disease to as normal a condition as possible.
  • Health and wellness: promotion of healthy living through participation in occupations.

Services Focus On:

  • Habilitation: assisting with achieving developmental skills when impairments have caused a delay or initial acquisition of skills has not been achieved.
