All x-rays, mammograms, and ultrasounds are performed by highly-qualified and certified technologists. What this means for you is that you are being taken care of by technologists with years of training, that understand the anatomy of the human body, and can aid your doctor in ordering the correct exams for the best diagnosis. With that in mind, this is less of a cost to your insurance company, less exams that need to be ordered, and an ability for you as the patient to ask questions about the need for your exam, what type of things we are looking for, etc.

General Radiology Service
General x-rays are performed at the Health & Wellness Center. General x-rays include: head, spine, extremities, abdomen, chest, and pelvis. X-rays are done when there is a written order from your medical provider, and we also do x-rays for outside medical providers as well!
Digital X-ray
In 2009, the Imaging Department updated all their systems to digital x-ray. What this means for you:
- Faster exam time.
- More accurate exam.
- Faster results for you and your medical provider.
Digital Mammography Services
There are many types of Mammography Services that are performed at the Health & Wellness Center.
Baseline Mammograms
This is what your very first mammogram is called. This is done when there are no problems and as a start to a yearly series beginning at the age of 40. If you are 40 years old and older, have never had a mammogram, and have no breast complaints, this is the advantageous time to start. You do not need a written order for this exam to be done.
Screening Mammograms
This is the mammogram done a year after your baseline mammogram. Screening mammograms are serial mammograms that are done yearly to watch if there are any changes in breast tissue. This type of mammogram is done also when there are no problems with either breast. Women who have had breast cancer and women with implants after age 40 should have a yearly mammogram. You do not need a written order for this exam to be done.
Diagnostic Mammograms
These types of mammograms are done when there is a problem with one or both breasts such as local pain, lumps, discharge, or anything out of the normal for you. This can also be done following a mammogram where there is an area of concern found by the radiologist. This type of mammogram is a specialty mammogram performed here at the Health & Wellness Center, and a medical provider’s order is required for this exam.
Ultrasound Services with 4D
In 2019, the Health & Wellness Center upgraded their ultrasound unit to a 4D (dimensional) unit. 4D is used with obstetrical ultrasounds at 20 weeks gestation to be able to see the baby in a more normal fashion rather than the old black and white images. Although the images taken may not be exactly what the baby looks like, it is very similar to what the baby looks like at that time in the pregnancy.
Other ultrasound exams performed at the Health & Wellness Center includes: Thyroid, extremity (for masses), abdomen, kidney, aorta, pelvis, pregnancy, gallbladder, and just recently, the Health & Wellness Center added a new type of ultrasound in 2014. Breast Ultrasound is a specialty ultrasound that is performed only when a diagnostic mammogram does not show an area of concern well. The Health & Wellness Center is the only center in Forest County that provides mammography and breast ultrasound imaging, and is the only facility that has a registered sonographer to perform this type of ultrasound.
